Where Cudium started
Cudium processes international payments for African importers, agents and SMEs. Sales are high-touch: inbound enquiries, outbound prospecting and referrals from agents and partners.
They had just adopted Zoho, but it was empty. They wanted clarity and usability first, with only the automation that genuinely helps the team.
What had to be solved
The CRM had to reflect how a regulated payments business really sells:
How I tackled it, step by step
- 1
Map the journey
From first contact through qualification, KYC, approval and first transaction.
- 2
Capture what matters
Custom lead fields for countries sent to, monthly volume, business type and current payment methods.
- 3
Guide the stages
Blueprint transitions so deals move in the right order, with checks where it matters.
- 4
Automate the next step
Tasks and call actions created automatically, and calls logged with an outcome.

01A lead board that shows who needs attention
Leads move across a simple board: Not Contacted β Attempted β Contacted (interested or not). The lead form captures the details that decide priority, and new leads get review and qualification tasks automatically.
02A pipeline built on the real customer journey
Deals move through Qualified (low intent) β Qualified (high intent) β KYC in Progress β Approved β First Transaction Done β Active Client, with a win probability at each stage.
03Guided steps, so nothing gets skipped
Zoho Blueprint turns stage changes into buttons such as "KYC Approved". Before a client is marked active, the team must confirm the first transaction amount.
What changed for Cudium
The calls that made it work
Good systems come from good decisions. Here's what I chose, and why.
Stages that match compliance
A generic "Proposal / Negotiation" pipeline would hide the KYC step that actually decides whether revenue happens.
Light automation, by request
The brief asked for usability first. Automation is limited to next actions and guided transitions the team will actually use.
Video handover
Recorded walkthroughs let the team learn on their own time and re-watch later.
A similar system could help ifβ¦
- You're a fintech or regulated business with KYC or onboarding before revenue.
- You've bought Zoho CRM and it's still empty or messy.
- You want a CRM your team uses, not one they avoid.
