Where Payassured started
Payassured Credit Services is a lending company in Bengaluru. Its team had imported everything from Tally into Zoho Books and started matching transactions against the bank statements.
It looked done. But they weren't sure, and they couldn't rely on the reports until someone checked.
What had to be solved
The client's own words framed the job. They wanted to know:
How I tackled it, step by step
- 1
Review the data
Checked the general ledger, sales and purchase sub-ledgers, bank and tax accounts using exports from the live organisation.
- 2
Confirm what's solid
Verified journal integrity and bank matching.
- 3
Find and rank issues
Graded every finding by severity, from critical to housekeeping.
- 4
Set the fix order
Structure first, then sub-ledgers, then tax, then lock the reconciliation.
- 5
Help on the call
Walked the team through GST/TDS on invoices and recording payments already received.

01The ask
The request was clear and practical: review the work so far, point out anything wrong, and say what else needs doing.
02What was solid
The good news first. All 610 manual journals balance, debits equal credits, and every one of the 899 HDFC statement lines was imported and matched, with nothing left uncategorised.
03What needed fixing
The issues were structural rather than clerical: 14 findings (2 critical, 6 high, 5 medium, 1 low). Some accounts sat under the wrong statement headings, two bank accounts had no opening balances, sales and purchase invoices were still in draft (so revenue and payables weren't posting), and the formal period-end reconciliation hadn't been completed.
04The follow-up
The client came back with specific questions on GST and TDS on invoices and recording payments already received. We booked a call and worked through them together.
What changed for Payassured
The calls that made it work
Good systems come from good decisions. Here's what I chose, and why.
Report what's right, not just what's wrong
Knowing the journals and bank matching were sound let the team focus on the real problems with confidence.
Rank by impact
Critical items that distort the statements come first; housekeeping comes last.
Fix in a sequence
Correcting structure before sub-ledgers avoids redoing work.

- You've migrated to Zoho Books and aren't sure it's right.
- Your reports don't match what you expect.
- You need someone to check before an audit or sign-off.
Names, phone numbers and account balances are blurred. The full review report is confidential to the client. Every screenshot on this page comes from the real project; nothing is a mock-up.
